Karate for Managers
The habitus of the manager is in many ways similar to that of the samurai. Dedication, hard work, discipline, diligence and the will to win are desirable goals for the manager. However, karate teaches: "The ultimate goal in the art of karate is not victory, but rather the perfection of the character of the practitioner." What does that mean for the manager?
Fighting and winning are not the main focus. Respect, responsible action, self-control, concentration (Zanshin), justice, self-knowledge, mindfulness, openness, determination and hard work (training) lead to success.
